From the point of Light within the Mind of God
Let light stream forth into the minds of men.
Let Light descend on Earth.
From the point of Love within the Heart of God
Let love stream forth into the hearts of men.
May Christ return to Earth.
From the centre where the Will of God is known
Let purpose guide the little wills of men
The purpose which the Masters know and serve.
From the centre which we call the race of men
Let the Plan of Love and Light work out
And may it seal the door where evil dwells.
Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth.
Our theme in the last post became Unity in Diversity which is an aspect of Love as it is intended to work out in this world of men; in the realm of the Soul there is no diversity as we understand the term and there IS ONLY UNITY. In the realm of the Soul there IS NO illusion, NO glamour and no vanity of any kind….there is simply the Love that we can but imagine from the saying by the Apostle John: “God is love” (1 John 4:8). It is in this understanding that we can make much progress; that is, when we can look at the True nature of man as the Soul and understand that this temporal existence and the diversity that it provides is of no matter and that as Souls we are ALL essentially the same, we can then see the reality of Love as it flows through the whole of the creation. This is the essence of the message from the Bhagavad-Gita that we posted saying: “Anyone who sees that all activities certainly in all respects are the result of material conditioning and that one as the soul is not the doer, sees perfectly. When one following that tries to see that the diversity of the living beings is resting in oneness and that it expanded to that reality, at that time one attains the Absolute of the Spirit“ Bhagavad Gîtâ 13:30-31.
Returning to the Great Invocation on which we discussed the first three stanzas two posts back, we should note that these stanza are separated in the same fashion as is our chart below with the Light, the Love and the Will of God corresponding to the Three Aspects of the Trinity. In this we should try to see the completeness of this invocation as a prayer for both our personal use as well as for the world. On a personal level we speak to our own Souls in a positive attempt to bring greater Light and greater Love into our Life in form so that it can be expressed as the Will of God through form. In this can be seen the reality of the Master’s saying that “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 7:21). From a world perspective there is a twofold approach; first it is an invocation to the Powers of God as they are personalized by the Christ and His High Disciples, an invocation to help in the distribution of the Light and the Love and the Power of the Will of God throughout His creation. The second approach is that which is the subject of the fourth stanza which is through the masses of men, the race of men as it is worded. This is then a combination of many separate persons bringing this Light, Love and Power into expression through their Life in form and the effective multiplication of these as they become a new way of living in the Aquarian Age.
This last part may seem a bit fanciful but there is a certain reality to it that is based in the history of movements and of ideas that have spread across vast parts of the Earth. However, this likely relies upon us, upon ALL men of GoodWill around the world. It relies upon the outward expression of Love in the normal course of daily Life as it is seen and felt by others. In this way the Love and the Power of the Soul can take advantage of the nature of the form Life of many who do not recognize the reality but who are searching for the better way. When and idea finds the wherewithal to move through societies it is because it is an idea which is attractive to the personalities of others; unfortunately this can encompass both good and bad ideas. Here we have the best of ideas that we wish to see move through society because it is attractive to the personalities of others who have some inkling of the reality and the need for universal Love in the world and the best way to accomplish this may be found in the personal example of those who DO KNOW and who DO UNDERSTAND.
There is a special Power in Love, the Love that we can associate with the Love that IS God. This is not the superficial, interpersonal love between people who are attracted to each other or those who they man find themselves closely associated with. The Love that IS God and that is given to us by the Christ, the Love that He teaches us to have is far beyond this and it is found most readily in the actions of the man who is keeping the words of the Master and the man that is striving to do so. This man will see the reality of the Master’s words which ARE NOT covered by parable but are straightforwardly given in this saying that we used in the last post to underscore the equality with which we are to see the neighbor, the brother and the stranger: “Ye have heard that it hath been said , Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect” (Matthew 5:43-48).
It is this saying on Love under the most difficult of circumstances that must be taken and used by the man who wishes to progress on the spiritual path. Here the Master equates this action in Love, this expression of GoodWill, with the actions of our Father God who sees ALL men the same and the admonition here is that we, as His children, as Sons of God, will do the same. Here also the Master gives us that seemingly impossible task of perfection which we must KNOW IS NOT IMPOSSIBLE for if it were Jesus would not have told us that this is what we must do. There is another perspective from which we should look at these ideas on Love which is from these same verses above and that is the admonition that we do not just go about giving with a tit for tat mentality; here the Master’s instructions are that we are proactive which He reiterates for us in the Golden Rule which is ever meant to be a proactive act of Love. Regarding the idea above of salute, we must try to see this as more than the common understanding of greeting as this would be quite meaningless in the overall picture of His teachings on Love. The lexicon gives us a hint in their list of defining terms for the Greek word aspazomai; the lexicon tells us this word means: to draw to one’s self; to salute one, greet, bid welcome, wish well to; to receive joyfully, welcome 2, which gives us a bit more understanding of the Master’s intent. We noted this conflict in a previous post and said then that: This word salute should be seen in a deeper sense than just that of greeting as this would not be a relevant teaching for the Master; we should see it as what is behind the salutation, the GoodWill and, according to an obsolete usage from Webster’s, To promote the welfare and safety of 1. We discuss the use of this word in more detail in In the Words of Jesus part 369 and we should be able to sense the conflicting meanings there and in this saying which is also from Matthew’s Gospel: “And when ye come into an house, salute it” (Matthew 10:12).
Overall this saying can be seen as our introduction to GoodWill as it is offered to us by the Master more than 2000 years ago and we are here again reminded of the words of Emmet Fox regarding the Golden Rule which tells us clearly: “Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets” (Matthew 7:12). Mr Fox tells us
I PRACTICE, the Golden Rule of Jesus instead of merely admiring it. He said, “Whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them.” The important point about the Golden Rule is that I am to practice it whether the other fellow does so or not.**
So here we find the reality of the fourth stanza of the Great Invocation as the words are pointed and directly involve the race of men and we should try to understand that it is only by the action of the race of men that any progress can be made and this is true individually as well as on the mass scale of which we speak above. And again, it is only by the action of some that we can hope to see the growth of this Love in the world today and this puts on us as aspirants the burden to, at a minimum, act in Love in ALL that we do in daily Life. We have spoken before about what is expected of the disciple insofar as his service to the Master is concerned and we should recognize that this service is in reality service to the world of men. He tells us “So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do” (Luke 17:10) and this outlines for us the attitude of the disciple who seeks only to serve and then to do more and in this is a view of one of the differences between the aspirant and the disciple.
The invocation to the race of men is that they Let the Plan of Love and Light work out and we can see this as the Love that flows forth from the Soul, from the Christ Within, and its activity in the Life in form which is the Light. The next line refers to evil and we should understand this in the same way that we have been discussing, as the ways of the world. That there is evil is not in dispute but this evil is not in the lives of the vast majority of the race of men; the evil here is that which prevents the spread of Love and of GoodWill, it is the illusion and the glamour and the vanity that permeates the minds and emotions of otherwise well meaning people and leads them down the road to self gratification and self devotion in which we can see the antithesis of Love and GoodWill.
We close here for today by repeating our words from above. The opportunity presented by the inflow of the Energies of the New Age, the Age of Aquarius, whose keynote IS Love which is expressed in these noted keynote words: WATER OF LIFE AM I, POURED FORTH FOR THIRSTY MEN. Can we see how this Water of Life IS can be simply Love. Note on the Quote of the Day
This daily blog also has a Quote of the Day which may not be in any way related to the essay. Many of these will be from the Bible and some just prayers or meditations that may have an influence on you and are in line with the subject matter of this blog. As the quote will change daily and will not store with the post, it is repeated in this section with the book reference and comment:
With the comments from the Prayers and Meditations page, we leave the Great Invocation
The Great Invocation
The Great Invocation is a World Prayer and an Invocation asking that the Threefold Potency of God will have a greater effect on our lives on this Earth.
Like the Lord’s Prayer, this invocation is a World Prayer which is as all that a prayer is intended to be. It is a prayer for the uplifting of the Human Family out of the mire of materialism and selfishness. The Lord’s Prayer asks nothing for the individual praying it but asks that its benefits be for US and for WE which is why it was given by the Christ as a prayer and as a model over 2000 years ago. This invocation is also attributed to the Christ who, as He promised, has never left us; He, through channels that we do not readily understand, has Himself instructed His disciples to distribute this prayer and to encourage its use as a world prayer and as an aid in preparing the world for His return.
The first three stanzas of this prayer should be understood as reflecting the effective potencies of the Trinity which is God and which, when brought down to an individual level, the Trinity which is Man. His Will, His Love and His Light we should seen as the Potent Powers of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

“The above Invocation or Prayer does not belong to any person or group but to all Humanity. The beauty and the strength of this Invocation lies in its simplicity, and in its expression of certain central truths which all men, innately and normally, accept—the truth of the existence of a basic Intelligence to Whom we vaguely give the name of God; the truth that behind all outer seeming, the motivating power of the universe is Love; the truth that a great Individuality came to earth, called by Christians, the Christ, and embodied that love so that we could understand; the truth that both love and intelligence are effects of what is called the Will of God; and finally the self-evident truth that only through humanity itself can the Divine Plan work out.“
